– Mark Barroca filling in for the injured JV Casio contributed 10 points but was also injured in the 4th quarter
– Marcio Lassiter was the only other Smart Gilas player in double figures with 10 points

– With the loss, Philippines will now play for 3rd place against home team, Chinese-Taipei at 5pm
– South Korea will battle Iran for the Jones Cup Championship tomorrow at 7pm

– Chris Tiu and Marcio Lassiter both scored 11 points
– Smart Gilas had 29 points in the 4th quarter while limiting Japan to only 10 points
– With the win, Philippines advances to the semifinal around against Iran tomorrow at 7pm
– JV Casio maybe out of the tournament due to a knee injury

– Marcus Douthit contributed 16 points and 8 rebounds but was in foul trouble
– Philippines committed 4 turnovers in the last 2 minutes
– Mac Baracael with 13 points and no other Smart Gilas player in double digits
– Philippines now has 3 wins and 2 losses
– A must win against UAE tomorrow and Japan on friday to advance in the semifinal round

– Marcus Douthit and JV Casio did not play (getting ready for game against South Korea)
– Asi Taulava was ejected from the game along with Yoong Jing Kwaan (After Malaysian player Kwaan grabbed Taulava below the belt, Asi retaliated with 2 punches)
– It was a close game in the 1st half but Philippines held Malaysia to just 11 points in the 3rd quarter
