Batang Gilas eliminated by Canada in FIBA U17 World Cup

2018 FIBA U17 World Cup Round of 16: Canada eliminated Batang Gilas, 102-62 held in Argentina last July 5. Gerry Abadiano led Philippines with 19 points as he shot 7/11 from the field.

Batang Gilas shot 0/14 in the 1st quarter and scored just 7 points, all on free throws while Canada scored 26 points.

Kai Sotto contributed 15 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks as Batang Gilas will now play in the Classification Phase for 9th-16th place.

Matthew-Alexander Moncrieffe led Canada with 22 points. Raven Cortez was the only other Philippine player in double digits with 10 points.

Batang Gilas was outrebounded by Canada, 55-35 and Canada got 23 assists, Philippines with only 13.

Philippines will face Mali on July 7, 1:15am in the classification round, highest finish Batang Gilas can get is 9th place.
