Philippines beat Japan in Jones Cup, now 2-2

Philippines (Ateneo Blue Eagles) defeated Japan, 80-74 in the 2018 Jones Cup in Taipei, Taiwan. Ateneo with back-to-back losses against South Korea and Canada before winning against Japan.

Angelo Kouame led Ateneo with 15 points and 14 rebounds while Thirdy Ravena contributed 14 points and 9 rebounds. The Blue Eagles with 16 steals led by Gian Mamuyac with 4.

Biggest lead of Philippines was 14 points but Japan kept the game close in the final quarter. Adrian Wong with 11 points including 4 free throws to seal the win for Ateneo. Matt Nieto scored 10 points.
