South Korea eliminated Gilas Pilipinas

South Korea eliminated Gilas Pilipinas, 118-86 in the quarterfinals of the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup in Beirut, Lebanon. Terrence Romeo led Gilas with 22 points (6/10 from 3) but Philippines could not stop the hot shooting of Korea.

Christian Standhardinger scored 17 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Roger Pogoy with 12 markers (2/2 from 3). Jayson Castro with 11 points and 4 assists while Japeth Aguilar with 7 points and 9 rebounds.

Terrence Romeo was on fire in the 2nd quarter but was shut down by Korea in the 2nd half. June Mar Fajardo played for the 1st time and finished with 2 points and 4 rebounds.

South Korea shot 16/21 from the three-point line and 8 players with 9 or more points. Sekeun Oh led Korea with 22 points as they advance to the Semifinals. Philippines will still play in the Classification Phase for 5th-8th place.

    The Koreans were sizzling hot on 3 point shot (16 out of 21 3 point shots made). Not only that, they played relentless assists at will wherein Gilas players were not able stopped them. Every error of the Gilas team were made points by the Koreans, average age is 26 and yet they played like pros and seasoned players. The Filipinos can’t do anything really because of their sharp shooting arsenal.
