FIBA Asia Cup New Tournament Format

The 2017 FIBA Asia Cup will be held August 10-20, 2017 in Beirut, Lebanon. 16 teams will compete in this tournament including Australia and New Zealand which is now part of FIBA Asia.

Qualified Teams: Lebanon (Hosts), Australia, New Zealand, Qatar (Gulf), Iran (WABA), Jordan (WABA), Iraq (WABA), Syria (WABA), 5 Teams (EABA), 1 Team (SEABA), 1 Team (SABA) and 1 Team (CABA).

FIBA Asia Cup New Tournament Format
Group Phase
Four Groups with 4 teams each, single round robin (Each team with 3 games)
1st place of each group will automatically qualify in the Quarterfinals
4th place of each group is eliminated

Final Phase
Qualifications
Group A 2nd Place vs Group B 3rd Place
Group A 3rd Place vs Group B 2nd Place
Group C 2nd Place vs Group D 3rd Place
Group C 3rd Place vs Group D 2nd Place
All games will be knockout games and winners will advance to the Quarterfinals

Quarterfinals
Last 8 Teams
All games will be knockout games and winners will advance to the Semifinals

Semifinals
Last 4 Teams
All games will be knockout games and winners will advance to the Finals

Finals
Last 2 Teams
