No Jordan Clarkson in the Asian Games! The NBA has announced it will not allow Clarkson to play in Indonesia because of a long-standing agreement with FIBA! What about China’s Zhou Qi? Is he also barred from playing? What about allowing NBA players to play in the Pan American Gamea which is the Americas zone’s counterpart of the Asian Games? NBA deputy commissioner Mark Tatum spoke with Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano and SBP chairman emeritus Manny V. Pangilinan to explain the NBA’s decision … What’s the logic behind the NBA rule? Why the double standard? Why discriminate against Clarkson and the Philippines? Just the same, let’s respect the NBA’s decision and thank Mr Tatum for going out of his way to speak with MVP and Secretary Cayetano—that showed the NBA listened to our appeal and gave us due recognition … let’s also thank MVP, Secretary Cayetano, SBP and POC for taking our appeal to the highest level … we may have lost the battle but this has certainly opened the eyes of the basketball world to revisit the NBA rule … Mr Tatum said the only way to change the rule is if the team owners vote on a waiver and that’s impossible to do at this time with the Asian Games opening just around the corner! Let’s move and fight in the Asian Games! @samahangbasketbolngpilipinas @smartgilas @jordanclarksons
