Philippines in shortlist for hosting the 2019 FIBA World Cup

Philippines is one of the 6 countries being considered to host the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup, the other countries in the shortlist are China, Germany, France, Qatar and Turkey. The 6 candidates can also be considered as hosts for the 2023 FIBA World Cup.

Timeline of Selection of Host for 2019 FIBA World Cup
Dec 15-16, 2014 – Meeting in FIBA Headquarters in Geneva for the 6 candidates
Jan 2015 – Site visit with FIBA Officials in the 6 countries
May 2015 – Final Bid Presentation
Jun 18-19, 2015 – Announcement of host

-Domingo Ramon Enerio III (Tourism Undersecretary and Chief Operating Officer)
-Patrick Gregorio (Current PBA chairman and SBP founding executive director)
-Sonny Barrios (SBP executive director)
-Butch Antonio (SBP deputy executive director for international affairs )
-Andrew Teh (SBP logistics consultant )
-Sean Nicholls (President of Octagon Asia-Pacific)
