Brooklyn Nets center Andray Blatche is one step away from being a naturalized Filipino after the Senate voted 20-0 to pass House Bill No. 4084. This is big news not only for Gilas Pilipinas fans but for other Countries that we will be facing in the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup in Spain.

If the Naturalization of Andray Blatche pushes through before June 30, 2014 (Deadline of Submission of 24-man Line-up for 2014 FIBA World Cup), Blatche will join Gilas Pilipinas and will play in the 2014 FIBA World Cup in Spain and in the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea and Marcus Douthit will be on the reserve list, just in case Andray Blatche gets injured.

Although the spot of Marcus Douthit in the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup may be taken from him by Andray Blatche, Douthit expressed his Full Support for the Naturalization of Andray Blatche and even attended the hearing in Congress last week with Gilas Pilipinas Coach Chot Reyes and Congressman Yeng Guiao.

JaVale McGee and Andray Blatche may join Gilas Pilipinas soon

House Bill 3783 and 3784 was filed by Antipolo City Congressman Robbie Puno that will help give citizenship to Andray Blatche of the Brooklyn Nets and JaVale McGee of the Denver Nuggets, the same resolution was filed to make Marcus Douthit a Filipino citizen.

After the approval of their citizenship, McGee and Blatche may join the Gilas Pilipinas pool but per FIBA rules, only 1 naturalized player may play per FIBA tournament.
