Gilas Pilipinas trounced Vietnam, 107-52 on Wednesday, May 17 in the 2017 SEABA Championships at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City to move a step away from the qualification process for the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup.

Matthew Wright’s 19 points on five triples led five players in double-digits for Gilas, which shall now face likewise undefeated Indonesia in the final day of the tournament tomorrow, May 18.

Japeth Aguilar had a perfect shooting night to help Gilas Pilipinas overcame a sloppy start and pull away from Thailand’s challenge, 108-53 in the 2017 SEABA Championships on Tuesday, May 16 at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

The 6-foot-9 Aguilar scored a Gilas tournament-high 23 points on an unblemished 10-of-10 shooting from the field, leading 72 bench points for the national team. He added five rebounds and two blocks. Calvin Abueva added 15 points and six assists while Andray Blatche and Terrence Romeo each tallied 11 points.

Gilas Pilipinas picked up their second straight win in the 2017 SEABA Championships in Manila after a dominant 113-66 victory over Singapore Saturday, May 13 at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, Philippines.

Five players finished in double-digits for Gilas which improved to 2-0 early in the tournament, tying Indonesia and Thailand on top of the team standings.

Calvin Abueva once again led the way for the Philippines, scoring 16 points on 50 percent shooting. He also had five rebounds and three assists.
