“Under the terms of the NBA’s Collective Bargaining Agreement, players are allowed to participate in offseason basketball games or exhibitions when requirements for those events are met, including ensuring that appropriate safeguards be in place, and the promoter seeks the proper exemptions from the NBA and the player’s team. The promoter of this proposed event, East-West Private LLC, was informed of this process several months ago but did not take the required steps. Filipinos are among the most passionate basketball fans in the world and we are committed to bringing them more access to our game and supporting the ongoing Typhoon Haiyan rehabilitation efforts.”

NBA Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard, Toronto Raptors Guard Kyle Lowry and Houston Rockets Rookie Nick Johnson will join Blake Griffin, Damian Lillard, Paul Pierce and DeMar DeRozan against Gilas Pilipinas on July 22 and 23, 2014 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum for The Last Home Stand All-Star Charity Event

Goodbye Air 21, Welcome NLEX
The Philippine Basketball Association Board of Governors approved the sale of Air 21 to Metro Pacific Investments Corp. which owns NLEX. Manny V Pangilinan now has three teams in the PBA: Talk N Text, Meralco and NLEX. Since NLEX acquired Air 21, there will be just two additional teams for the PBA 40th Season, KIA Motors and Blackwater Sports.

Gilas Pilipinas will play against Blake Griffin, Paul Pierce, Damian Lillard, Demar De Rozan and other NBA Stars in an Exhibition Game on July 22-23, 2014 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

JaVale McGee and Andray Blatche may join Gilas Pilipinas soon
House Bill 3783 and 3784 was filed by Antipolo City Congressman Robbie Puno that will help give citizenship to Andray Blatche of the Brooklyn Nets and JaVale McGee of the Denver Nuggets, the same resolution was filed to make Marcus Douthit a Filipino citizen.
After the approval of their citizenship, McGee and Blatche may join the Gilas Pilipinas pool but per FIBA rules, only 1 naturalized player may play per FIBA tournament.
