PBA to release 2 players per team for Gilas Pilipinas

Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) and the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) formally signed a Memorandum of Agreement that each PBA team will lend 2 players to the Gilas Pilipinas player pool.

This means that there will be 24 players in the Gilas Pilipinas Player Pool, 12 coming from the recent special Gilas PBA rookie draft and 12 will be chosen by Coach Chot Reyes.

Three PBA Teams (Rain or Shine, GlobalPort and Barangay Ginebra) will play in Dubai, United Arab Emirates this week at the Al Shabab, Al Arabi Club as part of the 2015 PBA Governors Cup.

The 2015 PBA Governors Cup will feature Asian Imports. The 12 PBA Teams can now hire 2 imports for the 3rd conference: 1 Asian Import (6 foot 3 and below) and 1 Foreign Import (Unlimited Height for last 4 teams and 6 foot 5 for the other teams).

Goodbye Air 21, Welcome NLEX

The Philippine Basketball Association Board of Governors approved the sale of Air 21 to Metro Pacific Investments Corp. which owns NLEX. Manny V Pangilinan now has three teams in the PBA: Talk N Text, Meralco and NLEX. Since NLEX acquired Air 21, there will be just two additional teams for the PBA 40th Season, KIA Motors and Blackwater Sports.
