Aside from bidding to co-host the 2023 FIBA World Cup, Philippines through Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas or SBP has also submitted the intent to host the 2017 SEABA Championship which will be held from April 23-30, 2017.

PBA to release 2 players per team for Gilas Pilipinas

Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) and the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) formally signed a Memorandum of Agreement that each PBA team will lend 2 players to the Gilas Pilipinas player pool.

This means that there will be 24 players in the Gilas Pilipinas Player Pool, 12 coming from the recent special Gilas PBA rookie draft and 12 will be chosen by Coach Chot Reyes.
