Game Highlights:
– Still No Lutz and Lassiter for this game
– Marcus Douthit led Smart Gilas with 17 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks
– Chris Tiu was the only other player in double figures with 12 points but committed 5 turnovers
– Philippines only had 14 assists compared to 22 by China
– Philippines committed 14 turnovers which resulted in 21 points off turnovers
– China had 10 steals and 5 blocks
– Smart Gilas only had 2 fast break points compared to 9 by China
– Philippines was held to 8 points in the 2nd quarter
– The only positive is that we held China to 75 points, they scored 101 against Bahrain

For the past 3 years, the core of the Smart Gilas Pilipinas National Basketball Team has been training in and out of the Country with one goal in mind, to win the 2011 FIBA Asia Championship and qualify for the 2012 London Olympics.
Although many are positive that the Smart Gilas can stage an upset in the Tournament, we all know that a very tough challenge is on the way with teams like China, Iran, Lebanon, South Korea and other teams also training hard for the same goal.
