– Japeth Aguilar led Smart Gilas with 21 points and 12 rebounds in 15 minutes of play, most in the 2nd half where Philippines pulled away after leading only by 10 at halftime
– 7 players scored in double digits and all players scored at least 2 points
– 113 points is the highest score so far in the entire tournament
– Rebounding edge 54-15
– 33 assists by Smart Gilas led by Jimmy Alapag with 8 and Mark Barroca with 7
– Philippines shot 40% from three point range with JV Casio going 3/3
– Philippines shot 67% from the field with Marcus Douthit going 8/11
– Philippines with 26 fastbreak points
– Only negative is the 18 turnovers compared to only 13 by Bahrain
– Former Green Archer Bader Malabes of Bahrain scored 15 points (former teammate of JV Casio)

– Still No Lutz and Lassiter for this game
– Marcus Douthit led Smart Gilas with 17 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks
– Chris Tiu was the only other player in double figures with 12 points but committed 5 turnovers
– Philippines only had 14 assists compared to 22 by China
– Philippines committed 14 turnovers which resulted in 21 points off turnovers
– China had 10 steals and 5 blocks
– Smart Gilas only had 2 fast break points compared to 9 by China
– Philippines was held to 8 points in the 2nd quarter
– The only positive is that we held China to 75 points, they scored 101 against Bahrain

-Marcus Douthit was called for an unsportsmanlike foul in the 1st quarter for pushing a player from UAE

For the past 3 years, the core of the Smart Gilas Pilipinas National Basketball Team has been training in and out of the Country with one goal in mind, to win the 2011 FIBA Asia Championship and qualify for the 2012 London Olympics.

Although many are positive that the Smart Gilas can stage an upset in the Tournament, we all know that a very tough challenge is on the way with teams like China, Iran, Lebanon, South Korea and other teams also training hard for the same goal.
