Gilas Pilipinas vs China Tune-up game on June 23

China - FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers

Gilas Pilipinas will face China in a tune-up game on Wednesday, June 23, 4:30pm at the Angeles University Foundation Gym in Pampanga.

This is in preparation for the Olympic Qualifying Tournament where Gilas Pilipinas will face host Serbia and Dominican Republic on July 1 and 2 while China will face host Canada and Greece in the other OQT. Game will not be shown on TV or Livestreaming.

Like Gilas Pilipinas, China swept the 3rd window of the FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers as they went 4-0 in the Clark Bubble. China defeated Japan, 66-57 then beat Chinese-Taipei by 49 points, 115-66. China then beat Japan again, 90-84 then finished the tournament with a win over Chinese-Taipei, 91-73.

Gilas Pilipinas won against South Korea twice and beat Indonesia in the final window of the 2021 FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers.

Gilas Pilipinas currently left with 13 players including Dwight Ramos, Kai Sotto, Angelo Kouame, Justine Baltazar, SJ Belangel, RJ Abarrientos, Isaac Go, William Navarro, Mike Nieto, Geo Chiu, Jordan Heading, Lebron Lopez and Carl Tamayo. Javi Gomez de Llano and Jaydee Tungcab will not be joining the team in Serbia.

China currently with 14 players in Clark including former NBA player Zhou Qi, who played only 1 game in the FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers. Gilas Pilipinas will leave for Serbia on Thursday, June 24.
