USA defeated Australia, 98-88 for their 3rd straight win in the 2016 Rio Olympics. Carmelo Anthony led Team USA with 31 points and was 9/15 from the three-point line and became the All-Time Leading Scorer for Team USA.

Gilas Pilipinas 24-man Player Pool for FIBA Asia Challenge

Bobby Ray Parks and Matt Ganuelas Rosser

Bobby Ray Parks and Matt Ganuelas Rosser are the only players with experience playing for Gilas Pilipinas in the 24-man Gilas Player Pool for the 2016 FIBA Asia Challenge.

Most players in the Player Pool played for Gilas Cadets in the SEA Games and SEABA Tournament including Kiefer Ravena, Mac Belo, Kevin Ferrer, Roger Pogoy, Mike Tolomia, Jiovani Jalalon. PBA players from Blackwater are also included: JP Erram and Almond Vosotros. Fil-Canadian Matthew Wright is also included in the 24-man Gilas player pool which will be called Gilas Pilipinas 5.0.

Gilas Pilipinas 5.0 (former Gilas Cadets) will represent Philippines in the 2016 FIBA Asia Challenge from September 9-18, 2016 in Tehran, Iran.

USA defeated Venezuela, 113-69 led by Paul George with 20 points. Jimmy Butler with 17 points while Kevin Durant scored 16 points for Team USA. Carmelo Anthony surpassed Michael Jordan into third place on the all-time USA scoring list with 14 points.

One of the new events showcased in the recent 2016 PBA All-Star Weekend was the Women’s 5 on 5 Basketball where our Top Women’s Basketball players were able to show their talents. Analyn Almazan and Ewon Arayi led the Light Team with 14 and 13 points respectively.
