Marcus Douthit supports decision of Coach Chot Reyes
If the naturalization of JaVale McGee and Andray Blatche pushes through before the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup, one player from Gilas Pilipinas will surely be replaced by either McGee or Blatche and that is Marcus Douthit because in FIBA Tournaments, only 1 naturalized player can play per tournament. Read JaVale McGee and Andray Blatche may join Gilas Pilipinas soon
Marcus Douthit in his twitter account (@DouthitMarcus) posted that he supports Gilas Pilipinas Coach Chot Reyes and supports what is best for the Country.
PBA adjusts PBA Schedule for Gilas Pilipinas
After a meeting between Gilas Pilipinas Coach Chot Reyes and the Philippine Basketball Association, the PBA Board of Governors agreed to compress the PBA 39th Season which now ends July 15 by shortening the PBA Commissioners Cup and Governors Cup Finals to a best-of-5 series and also moving the opening of the PBA 40th Season to October 19 after the 2014 Asian Games in South Korea which starts September 19.
This gives Chot Reyes 45 days to prepare with a complete team for the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup in Spain which starts August 30 and the 2014 Asian Games in South Korea. But practices start every Monday after the current PBA Philippine Cup.
Here’s a tweet by Coach Chot Reyes (@coachot) thanking the PBA:

After the approval of their citizenship, McGee and Blatche may join the Gilas Pilipinas pool but per FIBA rules, only 1 naturalized player may play per FIBA tournament.
