Gilas Pilipinas defeated Qatar, 84-46 on the road to stay alive for a slot in the 2019 FIBA World Cup. Andray Blatche led Philippines with 17 points along with 15 rebounds, 7 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks in his return to Gilas after his suspension due to the Gilas-Australia brawl.

Ginebra mainstays LA Tenorio, Scottie Thompson, Greg Slaughter, and Japeth Aguilar, who were all named to the final 12 for the Friday affair, are all excited to inflict the national squad with their trademark never-say-die spirit at the Mall of Asia Arena for the fifth window of the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup Asian Qualifiers.
Gilas Pilipinas lost to Lebanon, 74-68 in their 3rd tune-up game before the 5th window of the 2019 FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers. Japeth Aguilar led Gilas with 16 points.
A couple of Gilas Pilipinas players faced off in the Barangay Ginebra vs San Miguel Beer match in the 2018 PBA Governors Cup. Christian Standhardinger led SMB with 25 points while Alex Cabagnot scored 10 points in a loss against Ginebra. Scottie Thompson with 5 points for Ginebra who missed the services of Japeth Aguilar due to an injury. Marcio Lassiter also missed the game for SMB due to sore eyes.

Gilas Pilipinas defeated Qatar, 92-81 in the 4th window of the 2019 FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers in a closed-door game at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Gilas Pilipinas players Japeth Aguilar, Andray Blatche and Jayson Castro posted statements in their respective Instagram accounts related to the Gilas Pilipinas vs Australia incident.
