After going winless on back to back heartbreaking defeats in the fifth window of the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup Asian Qualifiers, Gilas Pilipinas head coach Yeng Guiao believes the national squad has some interesting decisions to make for both the immediate and long-term futures.
Gilas once again dropped a close affair on Monday night when they were outplayed to the finish line by Iran, 78-70. Overall, they went empty-handed in the fifth window as they lost to Kazakhstan prior, 92-88.
Gilas Pilipinas will face Qatar in a closed-door game on September 17, 7:30pm at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in the 4th window of the 2019 FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers.

The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) announced the appointment of Yeng Guiao as Head Coach of Gilas Pilipinas in the next window of the 2019 FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers this September.
Gilas Pilipinas composed of Rain or Shine Elasto Painters players plus other PBA players will participate in the 2018 Asian Games from August 16 to September 2, 2018 in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Update: Jordan Clarkson cleared by OCA and NBA, will miss 1st game of Gilas
Jordan Clarkson is included in the Gilas Pilipinas Final 12 Roster for the 2018 Asian Games as announced by Coach Yeng Guiao.
After pulling out of the 2018 Asian Games a week ago, Philippines will finally send a team in Jakarta with the core of Rain or Shine Elasto Painters plus a couple of players from other PBA teams and 2 Gilas cadets and will be coached by Yeng Guiao.
It is common for opposing players to get tangled but this time it was a player against the opposing coach as Chris Ross of San Miguel Beermen had an altercation with Rain or Shine Coach Yeng Guiao and then with Beau Belga. Also, Watch Yeng Guiao Pabebe Wave Video
Yeng Guiao (physical contact with Ross) and Beau Belga (leaving bench) were fined P20,000 each while Jericho Cruz (P1,000), Raymond Almazan (P1,600), Yancy de Ocampo (P1,600) with minor fines by the PBA Commissioner for committing technical fouls.
