Even though we know that Iran is a very tall and strong team, Gilas Pilipinas never backed down. Philippines lost the Gold but fought valiantly against the Champions.
With the absence of Marcus Douthit, Marc Pingris, Japeth Aguilar and Jayson William took turns attacking Hamed Haddadi in the paint.
7 – Gilas Pilipinas defeating Kazakhstan by 30
It was a perfect game by Gilas Pilipinas both in offense and defense and a very big win against Kazakhstan to enter the final four. Gary David had his best game of the tournament with 22 points.

From President Noynoy Aquino, VP Jejomar Binay to Manny Pacquiao, the crowd support at the Mall of Asia Arena was spectacular.

There were a lot of dunks by Japeth Aguilar in this tournament and we cannot choose which one was the best, but we all know on each of Japeth Aguilar’s dunks, the crowd goes wild!

-Jayson William led Gilas Pilipinas with 17 points along with 3 rebounds and 3 assists
-Best player of the game is Marc Pingris with a double-double, 16 points and 10 rebounds
-Jimmy Alapag was 4/7 from three-point range, including a dagger three to seal the game
-Ranidel de Ocampo with 11 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists
-Marcus Douthit was injured in the 1st half and did not play again
-Japeth Aguilar with 8 points and 4 rebounds
Philippines has lost to South Korea since 1986, the most memorable was in the 2002 Asian Games, where Olsen Racela missed two crucial free throws at the end of the game to pave way for a winning three-pointer by the Koreans and just 2 years ago against Smart Gilas in the 2011 FIBA Asia Championship Battle for third place and we lost a chance for a spot in the 2012 FIBA Olympic Qualifiers.
