The 2023 Asian Games will be held in Hangzhou, China from September 23 to October 8, 2023. The 19th Asian Games was supposed to take place from September 10-25, 2022 but was postponed due to the Covid Pandemic. Basketball in the 2023 Asian Games will be held from September 26 to October 6, 2023

Gilas Pilipinas finished 24th place out of the 32 teams in the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup. Philippines also gained a spot in the 2024 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament (FIBA OQT). In the 2019 FIBA World Cup in China, Gilas Pilipinas placed last with a 0-5 record as they most of their games by a big margin.
2023 FIBA World Cup Final Classification Round 17-32 Results
Philippines, Lebanon, Angola, Egypt, New Zealand, Ivory Coast and Finland qualified for the 2024 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament (FIBA OQT) for another chance to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Japan and South Sudan gained an automatic spot in the 2024 Paris Olympics by being the highest ranked Asian and African team respectively in the 2023 FIBA World Cup.
