Hey guys. Please go easy. Wannabe coaches just zip it. We all know it’s aheartbreaker again. But let’s face it, we can compete. Whatever way coaches mix up the lineup, still we make a gamble. You put blatch, fajardo and aguilar you may end up screwing our perimeter defense and more difficult to close out some coverage. Our game is speed and ball movement. Either way we always have the chance to be out rebounded because we are that small. Lets’s not over critisize the players and coaches. It’s frustrating but that’s basketball and we were up against a top 10 team in the world. Height and athleticism in all positions has a big advantage. Castro got rattled but I still commend his guts “don’t say panis”. Jun Mar, Pingris, and De Ocampo they played scrappy basketball, Jimmy’s leadership and decision making taking those 3’s. We still have Puerto Rico and Senegal. Let’s not loose hope. If we beat both teams, we may have a slim chance of advancing. Bottom line is, Philippines is getting the respect and recognition of the world’s best basketball stage. I’m a big fan of our Pinoy underdogs, but guess what I’m so proud to talk about this pinoy basketball performance to my friends here in the US. And kababayans, these American friends of mine are genuinely impressed with Gilas Pilipinas.

    • gilas says:

We do not want to be a coach! You missunderstand our point. We are proud of gilas philipinas. We just want fajardo to play more minutes (MVP of the last season in PBA). And each time he went to the game, he played well. That’s all.

Earning the respect & admiration of the world over represents the bigger picture in a losing stand. When one american sports editor tweeted something like: ” Can we give the Philippines a wild card entry into the round of 16?…” To me, that’s a very big big compliment already & testament of how good our team is paying. With regards to the player combination, I agree that the coaching staff should try using at some point, a Blatche/Fajardo combination longer as Fajardo is showing too that he belong in this kind of world class competition.

    Go Gilas

    • ding says:

huwag na tayong maghangad. masuwerte na isang panalo. malamang nga wala pa kahit isa. just enjoy the game. about combining fajardo and blatche, it is a good suggestion and i wonder why coach chot does not answer the question in a straight forward manner. i am disappointed on how a good coach like chot replies on this question. anyway i think the reason why we spend much money on player naturalization program is to add more height to the team. then why we are not doing it.

Team Gilas played hard and did a lot of effort to win but failed short again. No matter what was happened, Gilas already won the heart of every Pinoy basketbol fan fanatics all over the world. Goodluck Gilas for the remaining 2 games! You can win, just keep pushing, dont lose hope and confidence. Makes Pinoy proud!
