Gilas Pilipinas beat Thailand to start SEA Games campaign

Gilas Pilipinas defeated Thailand, 81-74 in their 1st game in the 2017 SEA Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Troy Rosario led Gilas with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

Christian Standhardinger who just played in the FIBA Asia Cup a few days ago, scored 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for Gilas. Bobby Ray Parks with 14 points, 3 assists and 4 steals.

Baser Amer contributed 6 points, 3 rebounds and 10 assists. Kiefer Ravena with 11 points. Philippines shot just 6/20 from the three-point line but with 19 total assists.

Gilas Pilipinas with only 11 players as Carl Bryan Cruz still played in the FIBA Asia Cup but will go to Malaysia to join the team in their next game.

It was a close game since the start but clutch baskets and free throws by Standhardinger sealed the win for Gilas Pilipinas. Tyler Lamp led Thailand with 17 points. Philippines now with a 1-0 record.
