Gilas Pilipinas Women beat Hong Kong by 36 points, now 2-0
Gilas Pilipinas Women defeated Hong Kong, 99-63 in the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou China. Janine Pontejos led Philippines again with 23 points.
Afril Bernardino contributed 20 points along with 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Jack Animam with just 10 points but grabbed 22 rebounds (16 offensive).
Ana Alicia Castillo scored 17 points while Louna Ozar with 11.
Hong Kong led by 1 at the end of the 1st quarter, 20-19 but Gilas Women’s Team pulled away in the 2nd half, holding Hong Kong to just 12 points in the 3rd quarter and scoring 34 points in the final quarter.
This is the second straight win for our Philippine Women’s Basketball team as they beat Kazakhstan in their 1st game.
