Gilas Pilipinas Youth lost to China, settles for 4th place

Gilas Pilipinas Youth lost to China, 87-59 in the battle for bronze medal game of the 2023 FIBA U16 Asian Championship held in Doha, Qatar. Joaquin Ludovice led Philippines with 15 points.

Kiefer Alas with 13 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 4 steals. Game was close in the 1st quarter with China U16 leading by just 3 points at the end of the 1st quarter, 20-17 but Gilas Pilipinas U16 was held to just 20 points total in the 2nd and 3rd quarters as the team was outrebounded, 54-31.

This is the 2nd time the Gilas Pilipinas U16 Team lost to China as they lost also in their 1st game. Gilas Pilipinas Youth (former Batang Gilas) will miss the podium and settled for 4th place but secured a spot in the 2024 FIBA U17 World Cup to be held in Turkey next year.
