Gilas Youth lost to Greece, AJ Edu injured

Gilas Pilipinas Youth (former Batang Gilas) lost to host Greece, 85-69 in their 1st game in the 2019 FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup.

Kai Sotto finished with 13 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 blocks but was in foul trouble in the 1st half. Gerry Abadiano also with 13 points for Gilas Youth.

Gilas Youth led by 7 at the end of the 1st quarter, 27-20 but Greece came back in the 2nd and finished with a 1 point lead at the half, 42-41.

Dave Ildefonso scored 12 points along with 4 rebounds and 4 assists while Carl Tamayo contributed 9 points. Nikolaos Arsenopoulos led Greece with 18 points.

Game was much closer than the final score as Greece pulled away only at the end of the game. Fil-Nigerian AJ Edu got injured early in the 1st quarter and did not return.
