Gilas Pilipinas is going to the 2019 FIBA World Cup in China from August 31 to September 15, 2019 and per FIBA rules, only one naturalized player may play for each team. Gilas Pilipinas Head Coach Yeng Guiao had experience coaching both Andray Blatche and Jordan Clarkson, who do you think should he choose to bring in the FIBA World Cup?

Coach Yeng Guiao handled Jordan Clarkson in the recent Asian Games in Jakarta while he coached Andray Blatche in 2 road games in the FIBA Qualifiers.

According to reports, Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas or SBP is trying to convince FIBA to accept Jordan Clarkson as a Filipino Citizen and not a naturalized player since he really has Filipino roots and already has a Philippine passport.

Unless FIBA will recognize Jordan Clarkson as a local before the FIBA World Cup, Guiao will have to choose between the two. Of course, there are other factors like Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas or SBP needs to ask permission from the Cleveland Cavaliers and the NBA to allow Jordan Clarkson to join Gilas Pilipinas in China.
