fajardo, slaughter, parks, ravena.. eto yung mga magbibigay satin ng oly slot. pero palagay ko, hindi lang dapat 2-3 yrs ang program ng gilas.. maybe 5-8 yrs pa. by that time, meron na din tayo pure shooter. more imptly, mas may displina na ang ph basketball. pero for 2013 qualifier, add natin siguro sina norwood, jr reyes, tenorio, alapag, williams, ranidel, james yap, ryan reyes, j wash, arwind.. sure na siguro ang top 2 jan. go gilas, go team pilipinas!

    best line-up (WITH HEIGHT)

    CENTER – 1. Slaughter 2. Thoss 3. Eman

    POWER FORWARD – 1. Douthit 2. Japeth 3. Fajardo

SMALL FORWARD – 1. Jay Wash 2. Kelly Williams 3. Joe DeVance

    SHOOTING GUARD – 1. Arwind 2. Lassiter 3. Parks/Lutz

    POINT GUARD – 1. Norwood 2. Solomon 3. Castro

This is a very tall line-up who could match height for height in international competition, if these line-up could play together for at least a year, i believe they could play at par (or even dominate) with Asian powerhouses… believe me guys…. if only i have the resources, which MVP has, i will assemble this team. This is an open letter for MVP, pls. sir consider this, the feeling of a filipino everytime we lose important games knowing that we could have done better is untolerable. it hits us straight to the heart… many thanks

I was really disappointed until now, dalawa lng lamang ng korea sa atin, tapos lamang pa tayo ng 13 points nung end of the 3rd quarter, mahina kasi sa free throws sana ma aaus na natin un. si williams. have 1/6 sa free throw lalo na nung last free throw nya. syang dba? kya nga sana pgbutihin pa ang free throw shooting.

As much as I hate reading Recah Trinidad’s Inquirer article because of his often times super negative criticism and Gilas bashing, he always has a point. Like today’s article (Sept. 29 2011) he pointed out that the last 5 shots scored by the Korea squad, 3 out of 5 were shots taken from the so called “wrong foot” practiced by Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant and played to perfection by Dirk Norwitzki which in my opinion is Soo True.. If you’re really a fan of basketball and watch the different basketball styles all over the world you will see that majority of the European players use this technique which was popularized by a korean basketball player in the 70’s. I remember back when i was watching the 1990 Asian games and saw for the first time how other asian countries played, my basketball fanatic friends and I would laugh at how funny the Korea and China team played. Their lay-ups and shooting looked awkward and funny (layman’s term “Balibag-Tae”). Unknowingly it would be the foundation of the power house Asian teams like China and Korea and world champoin teams like Spain, Argentina and Germany.. My point is this Basketball Heads in our country should put an end to their useless politicking and have one goal which is to save Philippine Basketball and go straight to the grass roots program. I still hate Recah Trinidad for Being so negative but i still thank him for proving a point and i still read his articles. 😛

what do you think of this line-up guys?
i believe that douthit can play power forward. with that, we can have a very tall line-up with slaughter at the center.. kaunting praktis pa at experience kaay slaughter ok na…tingan nyo line-up ko, malalaki di ba… di kaya ng china or korea na hanapan ng mismatch yan… sila ang mismatch sa point guard kay norwood… di kayang i-dominate ni daghles si norwood sa PG gaya ng ginawa niya kina casio and company… on the contrary, si norwood ang magdodminate sa mismatch na ito…

  6. Recah Trinidad is in the payroll of SMC kaya puro nega sa Gilas program yan,

Just like kay hontiveros, fatigue daw kaya nag quit sa gilas, not once nakapasok sa finals team nya pano sya mapapagod?

  10. King JAmes says:

@ craig..damn i totally disagree..cmon men are u even a filipino? those guys played their hearts out for flag and country tpos un lang ang sasabhin mo? wow… i understand the disappointments pero para sabhin n ala tyong dapat ikaproud sa team ntin?? that’s wrong..

I’m very proud of our national squad.. on my own opinion this is the best finished by our national team.. although hindi tyo umabot sa olympics or even sa qualifiers marami p nmng time e ..there’s always a room for improvements.. go Gilas

i think toroman should stay. we have a system which is very effective for international play.we have a good coaching staff. a few suggestions for our next gilas team

    1. dapat ung next players natin ay 6’5 pataas starting from the point guard postion to the center position who can shoot from the outside, can play defense, and can run the floor of course alapag will always be there..like (gabe norwood). e.g

    2. we should train 7 footers who can shoot outside not necessarily threes but can spread the floor.. like aguilar . i believe this young man has a soft touch from the outside

3.we should train greg slaughter for the center position para my kapalitan si douthit sa post..
