Slaughter and Lassiter withdraws from Gilas Pilipinas Player Pool
In a separate announcement yesterday, Greg Slaughter of Barangay Ginebra San Miguel and Marcio Lassiter of San Miguel Beermen both announced that they have declined the offer to join the Gilas Pilipinas Player Pool.
Both Greg Slaughter and Marcio Lassiter said that they believe that the original 12 members of Gilas Pilipinas should represent Philippines in the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup and they do not want to take their spots thus their decision to withdraw from the Gilas Pilipinas Player Pool. PBA adjusts PBA Schedule for Gilas Pilipinas
After a meeting between Gilas Pilipinas Coach Chot Reyes and the Philippine Basketball Association, the PBA Board of Governors agreed to compress the PBA 39th Season which now ends July 15 by shortening the PBA Commissioners Cup and Governors Cup Finals to a best-of-5 series and also moving the opening of the PBA 40th Season to October 19 after the 2014 Asian Games in South Korea which starts September 19.
This gives Chot Reyes 45 days to prepare with a complete team for the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup in Spain which starts August 30 and the 2014 Asian Games in South Korea. But practices start every Monday after the current PBA Philippine Cup.

FIBA is looking for Volunteers for Spain 2014. Anyone can apply to be a volunteer, not only the residents of the six host cities.
The organisation will take care of all your needs during your daily volunteer work (provision of meals, apparel, etc.)

Fifteen (15) national teams have submitted their applications for the 4 remaining Wild Card slots in the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup in Spain.

Only 4 teams from the list above and no more than 3 from the same FIBA zone will be in the Wild Cards.
