Gilas Pilipinas has been practicing since Monday, September 11 at the Philsports Arena and Calvin Abueva now back at Gilas for the Asian Games still continues practicing with the team even with a dislocated thumb and an injured left hand.
Gilas Pilipinas Head Coach Tim Cone announced that the Gilas Pilipinas Men and Women’s National Team will have joint practice on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at the Philsports Arena.
The 2023 Asian Games will be held in Hangzhou, China from September 23 to October 8, 2023. The 19th Asian Games was supposed to take place from September 10-25, 2022 but was postponed due to the Covid Pandemic. Basketball in the 2023 Asian Games will be held from September 26 to October 6, 2023
Gilas Pilipinas will face Syria for 5th Place in the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia.

With the loss to South Korea, Gilas Pilipinas will now play in the Classification Phase for 5th-8th place in the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia, they will play against Japan.
