Extend Coach Rajko Toroman?

The Smart Gilas program has been extended to two more years, in time for the 2013 FIBA Asia Championship as qualifier for the 2014 FIBA World Championship. But the contract of Coach Rajko Toroman is until after the 2011 FIBA Asia Championship only.

Do you think Smart Gilas should extend the contract of Rajko Toroman or do you think another local or foreign coach should handle Smart Gilas in the next two years? Who do you think should handle Smart Gilas in case Coach Rajko Toroman’s contract is not extended?

Possible Replacements:
-Tim Cone (With his recent resignation in Alaska, he is a possible option and has experience handling a National Team)
-Chot Reyes (Head Coach of Talk N Text, who almost had a grand slam)
-Ryan Gregorio (Current assistant coach of Smart Gilas and Head Coach of Meralco Bolts)
-Norman Black (Head Coach of Ateneo, which is on its way to its 4th straight title)

Do you think Smart Gilas should extend the contract of Rajko Toroman to 2 more years?

Coach Rajko Toroman should stay. He did something great for our country. Even he doesn’t have our best basketball player in this tournament he has done something really good. Maybe if the other teams will give their best player to help our national team Maybe and I really hope so we will be champions.

We should extend Coach Toroman but add more supporting coaches like Coach K of the USA team. A shooting coach, defensive coach and a coach for scouting and recruiting.

  3. Ace says:

Retain Toroman. If not him anymore, hire a foreign coach experienced in the international play. Possible replacements mentioned are excellent coaches in local basketball. International style of play is far more different and complex than what we have here.

they should retain toroman for i like the way he mentors, PBA should adopt fiba rules. honestly, PBA is useless in the eyes of the filipino people if they cant make it to international competitions. They should realize that basketball is a global competition. If we can make it then blessing follows, then that blessings we will witness in the future… go go go were almost there……
