PHI grouped with AUS, JPN and TPE in 2019 FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers
Philippines will be in Group B with Australia, Japan and Chinese-Taipei in the 2019 FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers. Gilas Pilipinas will face these teams in 1 home and 1 away game starting November 2017.
Starting this year, the Asian Region will be merged with Oceania Region that is why Australia and New Zealand will be part of the FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers.
2019 FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers Groups
1st Round
Group A: China, New Zealand, South Korea, Hong Kong
Group B: Japan, Chinese-Taipei, Australia, Philippines
Group C: Syria, Lebanon, India, Jordan
Group D: Iraq, Qatar, Kazakhstan, Iran
2nd Round
Group E = Top 3 from Group A combined with Top 3 from Group C
Group F = Top 3 from Group B combined with Top 3 from Group D
Top 7 Teams will qualify for the 2019 FIBA World Cup (Top 3 from Group E and Top 3 from Group F plus highest ranked 4th place)
I think the FIBA Asia in Lebanon is a preview for the 2019 FIBA World, most likely the top 7 in lebanon will emerge as top 7 qualifier in the 2019 FIBA.
