Gilas Pilipinas Youth lost to China by 17

Gilas Pilipinas Youth lost their 1st game in the 2023 FIBA U16 Asian Championship against China, 84-67 held in Doha, Qatar.

Kiefer Alas led Gilas Pilipinas Youth with 20 points and also with 8 rebounds and 3 assists. Batang Gilas (Gilas Pilipinas Youth) was trailing by just a point at halftime, 44-43 but China pulled away in the final half led by Boyuan Zhang with 18 points.

China outrebounded Philippines, 48-36 as half of the China roster is above 6’8.

CJ Amos contributed 13 points and 4 rebounds while Kurt Velasquez scored 12 points for the Philippine Youth team.
