Gilas Pilipinas beat LG Sakers in Tune-up game

Gilas Pilipinas defeated LG Sakers, 86-81 in a tune-up game before they depart for the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. Justin Brownlee led Philippines with 19 points and also finished with 5 rebounds and 3 assists.

June Mar Fajardo scored 16 points for Gilas Pilipinas while Calvin Oftana contributed 13 points and 11 rebounds and was 6/7 from the field. Scottie Thompson with 11 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists.

Gilas Pilipinas with just a one point lead at the end of the 1st quarter, 20-19 but extended their lead at halftime, 47-39 led by CJ Perez (8 points) and Arvin Tolentino (6 points).

Dante Cunningham led the LG Sakers with 18 points.

Gilas Pilipinas Head Coach Tim Cone did not use Calvin Abueva, Terrence Romeo, Jason Perkins and Mo Tautuaa as they did not have a go signal yet from the the Asian Games organizers.

1st game for Philippines will be on Sept 26 vs Bahrain to be held at the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Centre Gymnasium in Hangzhou, China.
