Gilas Pilipinas Youth beat South Korea, will face Japan in QFs

Gilas Pilipinas Youth defeated South Korea, 95-71 in the qualification to quarterfinals game in the 2023 FIBA U16 Asian Championship held in Doha, Qatar. Joaquin Ludovice led Philippines with 25 points (7/12 from the three-point line) and also with 5 assists.

5 players scored in double figures for Gilas Pilipinas Youth including Kurt Velasquez with 17 points, 4 rebounds and 7 assists, Bonn Daja with a double-double – 13 points and 10 rebounds, Kevin Alas also with a double-double – 11 points, 13 rebounds and also with 4 assists and last is CJ Amos with 10 points.

Gilas Pilipinas U16 Team outrebounded South Korea, 57-35. Philippines led right from the start with a 10 point lead at the end of the 1st quarter, 28-18 and a 22 point lead at the half, 60-38.

Daniel Edi led South Korea with 18 points and will play in the classification round.

With the win, Gilas Pilipinas Youth (former Batang Gilas) will face Japan in the Quarterfinals on September 23, 2023, 12:30am.
