Gilas Pilipinas Youth secured their 2nd win in the 2023 FIBA U16 Asian Championship as they beat Malaysia, 75-52 held in Doha, Qatar. Keifer Alas led Philippines with 15 points and also with 13 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal.

Gilas Youth U16 had a hot start scoring 29 points in the 1st quarter while holding Malaysia to only 8 points. Gilas Pilipinas U16 with a total of 21 assists compared to only 8 by Malaysia.

Kurt Velasquez contributed 13 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals while Elijah Williams with 9 points and 9 assists for Team Philippines.

No player from Malaysia scored in double digits.

Gilas Pilipinas Youth (former Batang Gilas) lost their 1st game against China but defeated Kazakhstan in their 2nd game and currently with a 2-1 record.
